What I did this weekend…good watching and good reading

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

Here’s a link to a dvd I watched this weekend - it’s called Blue Gold and is amazing!  I knew alot about the privatization of water in Bolivia before but didn’t know just how far reaching it is all over the world…the US, Canada, France…this is a huge deal…cause when you control the water (and in some case even the rainwater collection!) you control people lives totally.

I borrowed the dvd from my library - it’s also available for purchase - and if you check the listings you may even find it is being shown in a theatre near you.

And this weekend I also finished off a book I was reading “The Root of Wild Madder” by Brian Murphy…as per usual I borrowed this book from the library and since it was on it’s last renew I had to get on it!  This was a great book which  recounted Brian’s trek throughout some of the most treacherous terrain fueled by his passion for Persian carpets.  It really is a wonderful expose of Persian life, the carpet world and how things are a changing.  It’s a must read for anyone really interested in textiles ….and of course natural dyes!

Enjoy!
