Yarn Club almost ready

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

After some crazy dyeing last week the last of the skeins are almost dried - so all shipments will go out Mon or Tues this week.

And I was asked to clarify about the “buying and selling terms” for the Yarn Club.  You are welcome to trade and sell the colourways amongst current Yarn Club members if you like - just not in public on Ravelry as the subscribers paid to have access to the colourways before the general public….if I chose to release them eventually.  Sorry for any confusion about that.  I don’t know how the trading/selling would work as I can’t give out my client list - but maybe you have an idea?

…now off to label what’s dry :)

Cheers

Inspiration for Yarn Club 2nd delivery

Monday, June 1st, 2009

All the Yarn Club packages were shipped last week so you all should be receiving them this week…some may have already received them!

While dyeing this installment, the blossoms were in full bloom and so I couldn’t help but be inspired by them!

Two photos capture the essence of this colourway best (and no it’s not pink!)…I couldn’t choose just one so here goes:

Apple Blossoms:  This is a photo of the trees along the boulevard leading into the Nanaimo Airport.  You would have thought, given my anxiety re flying, that I would be inside impatiently awaiting my first flight in years…..but instead, these trees were calling me no matter how I tried to fight it…I didn’t want people to think I was dyeing pink!…I just had to take a ton of shots….if fact I took far more shots f the trees than of the trip to the Frolic!  Many of the photos of the bark will be considered for tapestries …when I finally have time to weave tapestries again.

These trees were huge so I couldn’t get a close up and closer.

Here is a photo of another tree that was an inspiration as well in designing this colourway.  This flowering plum is in my studio garden .

Hope you all love the colourway me and the threes came up with…enjoy!

Indigo House Saga/Yarn Club Shipping

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

Well it seems we’ve run into a glitch with the green house/indigo house.  First off I way overspent on labour - it was supposed to be finished in one day…and it ran into two and we’re only half way there.  So I’m not sure what to do now- have a fundraiser :) - though I suppose this is a(nother) good test of my faith.  I know the house was supposed to be built now but…..what now?  The H can be back on Friday but he knows I’m totally tapped financially and he won’t work for free.  Plus the plastic we have is not enough (good thing we didn’t start on the bigger house!) and we need more wood…oh yeah and the door won’t close at all.  I was busy wrapping up the Yarn Club packages and wasn’t outside to help/supervise so H spent half the day on the door - he meant well - but it doesn’t close - and we can’t staple the plastic to how he put it up….oddly I knew it wouldn’t work I just didn’t trust myself enough to say somethin!  When will I learn!!!  The door not closing  may be fine in the summer but when the Norweters blow come September and through the winter, the glass will surely break when the drop slams open.  So all in all today is not shaping up to be as good as yesterday…but I thought I should post anyway…otherwise you’d think that everything goes smoothly for me….ha!

On a lighter note…shipment 2 of the Yarn Club will be going out today  woo hoo!!!  It’ll definitely be a surprise in fact I don’t think I will post an “inspiration photo” until next week, otherwise you might think it’s a particular colour which it is not.  Oh yeah, and I’ve also decided to use different packaging.  Last month, when the shipping boxes didn’t arrive in time, I had to use the envelopes with paper on one side and bubble wrap attached on the otherside.   Well those envelopes are not recyclable and I cringed each time I went to the post office.  Yes I know everyone uses them, and they do make mailing out far easier (although some were a bit smaller than I would have liked) but it just doesn’t sit well with me.  So I’ve decided this month to go back to the old fashioned way of shipping yarn - in a resealable (reuseable/recyclable) plastic bag wrapped with a few layers of brown kraft paper (recyclable/reuseable)….it’s not as aesthetically pleasing but it sits well with my conscience.

And please give me feed back this month as to what you thought of the Yarn Club, if you would do it again, etc - as I will be reviewing whether or not I will continue to offer the Yarn Club in September.  The price for some of the memberships will go up since shipping in Canada especially is a lot more than I expected.    So let me know what you think.

Cheers

Yarn club inspiration …and US orders shipped today

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Well it’s official….the US memberships will go out this afternoon.  I’ll try to stagger the shipments so everyone receives them  around the same time …if it doesn’t work that way, or it’s just too difficult going back and forth to the post office, I may have to rethink it for next time…but for May’s IM Yarn Club, I’ll stagger them.

I had planned to ship everyone’s yarn in little gift boxes however, they aren’t here yet, so instead of making you wait another week or so, I’ve decided to ship them in regular envelopes - not as romantic, but thought it was the best call.

I’ve been a bit torn as to whether I should give you a hint of the colourway  …or let it be a total surprise…so since the people who gave me feedback about this were divided about 50/50, I made another call (I’ll start using a coin in the future!) so here’s a hint…the family of baby tulips are the inspiration for this month’s colourway (from 2 posts ago).  Each Fall I intend on planting bulbs to enjoy in the Spring and each year I miss out - I’m usually too late, or have to be away for a show, or a class, or something….and this past Fall I actually did it!  The crocuses came up, the scented daffodils and …the baby tulips!  They are so cute bobbing in the breeze with their little faces wide open taking in the Sun….they really are little beauties.  And good thing I took the photo before I left for the Frolic, as they were all gone by the time I came back.  This month’s the colourway is called “Dancing Tulips”, inspired by these little baby beauties.

 Enjoy!

It’s only been a few hours and alread we’re almost sold out!  Thanks everyone for signing up - all of the Canadian memberships were sold out in no time! I moved 5 over from the US sign up so there are 5 more Canadian memberships left and that’s it for this term. Thanks for the great response!

And also the shopping cart seems to be randomly charging pst on some Canadian orders. Don’t worry I caught it, and though I can’t personally change the cart (my webguy has to do that) I will change it on your credit card. I sent everyone a note - but just in case you didn’t already receive the note - I thought I’d post. The total for the Canadian cart is $90 (plus gst = $93.75)and the US is $130 (no tax).

Oh yeah…and our power just came back on after a mild wind storm…a bit of a crazy day!
