Yarn Club shipped - last month’s photo finally up :)
Friday, February 26th, 2010All Yarn Club shipments went out yesterday and should be in your mail box early next week…enjoy!
This month’s colourway is inspired by the Colour of the Year…..I’ll post a photo next week.
Last month (Feb) was Moonlight Sonata - this is a photo lifted from Ravelry as I couldn’t get a good pic myself. It is a shifting of different blues - reminiscent of the moon lit sky in winter. And since I’m often listening to classical music…and love the Moonlight Sonata…I thought it very appropriate. Otherwise the name was to be “Mid Winter Sky in the Moonlight” and that wouldn’t fit on the label

Silken Pleasure….
Tuesday, February 16th, 2010Yesterday I took the “day off” to paint a kitchen that was in dire need of paint for a number of years…not so much a “day off” but an exhausting ordeal…..the kitchen looks great though it’s only about half done. Looking at paint chips for the past while has provided me with a ton of name suggestions which…frankly….don’t make a lot of sense, or fit any type of categorization…but I think it’ll work. The Silken Pleasure yarns I dyed last week are all exquisite and if left to my own devices I would call them things like”exquisite”, “fabulous”, “mind blowing” :) So to come back down to Earth a bit - after floating around in ecstasy when taking the yarns out of the dyebaths…I think these new names make more sense. However…saying that….I can always change my mind if I like :) one of the perks of being the dyer and business owner
So here goes….
To pay homage to all the buds that are popping on the trees out here on the balmy Pacific West Coast….”Spring Buds Green” in Silken Pleasure - an exquisite 50/50 blend of merino wool and mulberry silk in a worsted wt yarn. Outstanding to knit and wear as a scarf, sweater, mitts…pretty much anything you’d like. I have limited quantities of each colourway and when they are gone will be taking orders.
Happy shopping!

Something to share
Friday, January 29th, 2010Just something I’d like to share….it arrived in my email box at the perfect time. Cheers
Dancing With God
When I meditated on the word Guidance,
I kept seeing “dance” at the end of the word.
I remember reading that doing God’s will is a lot like dancing.
When two people try to lead, nothing feels right…
The movement doesn’t flow with the music,
and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky.
When one person realizes that, and lets the other lead,
both bodies begin to flow with the music.
One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back
or by pressing Lightly in one direction or another.
It’s as if two become one body, moving beautifully.
The dance takes surrender, willingness,
and attentiveness from one person
and gentle guidance and skill from the other.
My eyes drew back to the word Guidance.
When I saw “G”: I thought of God, followed by “u” and “i”.
“God, “u” and “i” dance.”
God, you, and I dance.
As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust
that I would get guidance about my life.
Once again, I became willing to let God lead.
My prayer for you today is that God’s blessings
and mercies are upon you on this day and everyday.
May you abide in God, as God abides in you.
Dance together with God, trusting God to lead
and to guide you through each season of your life.
This prayer is powerful and there is nothing attached.
If God has done anything for you in your life,
please share this message with someone else.
There is no cost but a lot of rewards;
so let’s continue to pray for one another.
And I Hope You Dance Through 2010
Link for July’s Inspiration
Friday, July 10th, 2009Here is a link for a photo of the inspiration for July’s colourway “Beach Stones”…actually the colourway came first, but I knew what I wanted to call it…just didn’t have a photo yet.
Well I just found out that the link doesn’t work…..so…ust imagine you are looking at stones through the tide on the beach…or at the bottom of a riverbed….Enjoy!
Inspiration for Yarn Club 2nd delivery
Monday, June 1st, 2009All the Yarn Club packages were shipped last week so you all should be receiving them this week…some may have already received them!
While dyeing this installment, the blossoms were in full bloom and so I couldn’t help but be inspired by them!
Two photos capture the essence of this colourway best (and no it’s not pink!)…I couldn’t choose just one so here goes:
Apple Blossoms: This is a photo of the trees along the boulevard leading into the Nanaimo Airport. You would have thought, given my anxiety re flying, that I would be inside impatiently awaiting my first flight in years…..but instead, these trees were calling me no matter how I tried to fight it…I didn’t want people to think I was dyeing pink!…I just had to take a ton of shots….if fact I took far more shots f the trees than of the trip to the Frolic! Many of the photos of the bark will be considered for tapestries …when I finally have time to weave tapestries again.
These trees were huge so I couldn’t get a close up and closer.
Here is a photo of another tree that was an inspiration as well in designing this colourway. This flowering plum is in my studio garden .
Flowering Plum:
Hope you all love the colourway me and the threes came up with…enjoy!

Yarn club inspiration …and US orders shipped today
Wednesday, April 29th, 2009Well it’s official….the US memberships will go out this afternoon. I’ll try to stagger the shipments so everyone receives them around the same time …if it doesn’t work that way, or it’s just too difficult going back and forth to the post office, I may have to rethink it for next time…but for May’s IM Yarn Club, I’ll stagger them.
I had planned to ship everyone’s yarn in little gift boxes however, they aren’t here yet, so instead of making you wait another week or so, I’ve decided to ship them in regular envelopes - not as romantic, but thought it was the best call.
I’ve been a bit torn as to whether I should give you a hint of the colourway …or let it be a total surprise…so since the people who gave me feedback about this were divided about 50/50, I made another call (I’ll start using a coin in the future!) so here’s a hint…the family of baby tulips are the inspiration for this month’s colourway (from 2 posts ago). Each Fall I intend on planting bulbs to enjoy in the Spring and each year I miss out - I’m usually too late, or have to be away for a show, or a class, or something….and this past Fall I actually did it! The crocuses came up, the scented daffodils and …the baby tulips! They are so cute bobbing in the breeze with their little faces wide open taking in the Sun….they really are little beauties. And good thing I took the photo before I left for the Frolic, as they were all gone by the time I came back. This month’s the colourway is called “Dancing Tulips”, inspired by these little baby beauties.
Enjoy!
Inspiration
Monday, April 20th, 2009Here are pics of some of the things that have inspired me this past week with the sun shining brightly and all the blossons burst forth. The fragrance is exquisite and the colours outstanding. Enjoy!

The perfect quote…
Saturday, December 6th, 2008This past week there has been much talk and concern about our local arts council - another gov’t subsidized program being cut …unfortunately cutting programs, especially re art, is pretty common in Canada…a shame, but true….any hoo….I was talking to a friend early this week since I missed the meeting but wanted to find out what was going on.? We have had a studio tour every Thanksgiving (Canadian) weekend and this was the program on the chopping block.? The?artist vs artisan controversy reared it’s head again.? I personally consider myself an artist - a fibre artist.? She said that fiberists are artisans….ok…but I don’t feel that the word artisan encompasses what I do….and then today, I picked up Stephanie’s book “Meditations for Women who knit too much” …and the book opened to the perfect page….there is was…exactly the definition I was looking for:
?”He who works with his hands is a laborer,
he who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman,
he who works with his hands, his head and his heart is an artist.”
????????????????????????????????????????? -St Francis of Assisi
Exactly!…..thanks Steph.
