All shapes and sizes…

March 6th, 2010

Some new silk babies - various colourways and sizes - I’ll be putting up on the site later today…aren’t they cute? :)

I have to label each one individually with yardage and type of yarn - all are silk - all are natural dyes - mostly Muga - all are “one ofs”.

To skein or not to skein….

March 4th, 2010

I’ve decided to offer a new service to online customers.  When you purchase the lace wt silks you have the choice of receiving your silk in a skein - as per usual - or in a pre wound ball.  Not everyone owns a swift and ball winder (gasp!) and winding 1000 yards by hand can be pretty tedious so…this way you can start knitting as soon as the silk arrives!  There is no charge for this service although you can not retun the yarn once it is balled.  (If there are any knots I will notate it for you or ball another skein.)   Some people like to receive the silk in the skein and get to know the yarn as they are balling it….I totally understand that and that is why I’m not balling the yarn before it goes onto the shelf.   To skein or not to skein…or actually to ball or not to ball…that is the question :)

Yarn Club shipped - last month’s photo finally up :)

February 26th, 2010

All Yarn Club shipments went out yesterday and should be in your mail box early next week…enjoy!

This month’s colourway is inspired by the Colour of the Year…..I’ll post a photo next week.

Last month (Feb) was Moonlight Sonata - this is a photo lifted from Ravelry as I couldn’t get a good pic myself.  It is a shifting of different blues - reminiscent of the moon lit sky in winter.  And since I’m often listening to classical music…and love the Moonlight Sonata…I thought it very appropriate.  Otherwise the name was to be “Mid Winter Sky in the Moonlight” and that wouldn’t fit on the label :)
